Last month, Netflix revealed that the streaming platform had opened a new video game studio in Los Angeles. As previously reported, Chacko Sonny, the former Blizzard vice president and Overwatch executive producer is leading the studio.

At the time, Netflix did not reveal much about the work and future projects the studio was working on. However, new job openings for the Los Angeles-based studio have revealed these plans.

Netflix hiring for multiple positions to increase the video game studio team

According to a report from mobilegamer.biz, the studio is currently looking to hire a Game Director. The description in the job listing confirms that the studio will be developing a new AAA PC game on Unreal Engine. Furthermore, Netflix is also looking for a candidate that has experience working with “live service games” and “FPS and/or Third Person Shooter games.”

Beyond the Game Director, the studio is also looking at some other roles including a Lead Engineer, and more. The job listing for Lead Engineer further states that the game in question might be part of the Third-Person Action RPG genre. The streaming platform also has openings for the position Art Director, Technical Director, Senior Producer and more.

Other than creating a big budget PC game, Netflix has also mentioned that the title should feature “world/characters/narrative that are worthy of a Netflix film/TV series”

After dabbling in mobile games for quite some time, it seems like Netflix is ready to take the next step in its video game journey. While its new big budget title is in the early stages, it will be interesting to see what kind of story and characters the title can bring when compared to the streaming platform’s biggest TV shows and films.
