New Google Files Update Will Allow Users To Free Up More Storage Space on Their Smartphones

One of the most common issues faced by smartphone users is not having enough storage space. Since entering the smartphone era every user transfers their data from the previous smartphone to their new one. This results in the user using up most of the storage space provided by the smartphone before they even start using it.

Google has recognized this issue and has planned to release a new update to their Files application that will optimize the storage space of their smartphone. Google released the Files application so that users could manage and access their data a lot more freely. the application allows the users to access every single file present on the smartphone individually where they can, alter, edit, and delete these files according to their will.

Files as an application is complex and contains a huge amount of important and unwanted files, maneuvering through this application and finding these unwanted files can be a confusing task for many individuals. According to reports by Android Police and Gadgets Now, Google has released an update for the Files application that will introduce a new feature called “Search Chip Filters”. These Search Chip Filters will scan through the smartphone of the user and provide them with results containing the unwanted files that they can delete to free up storage space on their smartphones.

Search Chip Filters for the Google Files application won’t be used only to remove unwanted files on the smartphone as the users can also use this feature to add filters to their search so that the pop up shows only the desired results.

A user could search for photos, applications or documents and all files related to the search will show up in the results, categorized according to the nature of the files. This new feature will allow the user to have much better file management and access desired files with a lot more ease.
