New Palm Phone Launched with 3.3-inch HD Display & Android 8.1

The Palm brand that now belongs to a San Francisco based startup who purchased the rights to the Palm brand from TCL, has unveiled the all-new Palm Phone in the U.S. The Palm Phone is about the size of a credit card and featured a small display with a high pixel density LCD panel, and comes with IP68 rating. Palm, an American firm known for manufacturing personal digital assistants (PDAs) and mobile phones was taken over by HP in 2011. Later, the brand acquired by TCL in 2014.

Palm Phone Pricing

The Palm phone comes with the price tag of $350 (Rs. 25,740 approx.) for the unlocked version, and $299 with a two-year contract. The smartphone will be available to purchase exclusively via Verizon Wireless in the US starting from November. It will be made available in Titanium and Gold colour options.

Palm Phone Specifications

The Palm Phone runs on a custom version of Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and sports a 3.3” HD (1280 x 720 pixels) LCD display with a 445ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The smartphone is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. It offers 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

For photography, the Palm Phone comes with a 12MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP selfie shooter on the front. The front camera also equipped with facial recognition technology to unlock the device.

the Palm Phone is fuelled by an 800mAh battery. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.2 LE, single-band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, GLONASS, and a USB Type-C port. Sadly, there is no 3.5 mm audio jack. Sensors onboard the phone include an accelerometer, electronic compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. The phone measures 96.6×50.6×7.4mm and weigh 62.5 grams.

The custom “Life Mode” is designed to eliminate distractions.  It puts the phone to sleep when you turn off the screen, preventing calls and notification. After waking the screen, the Palm Phone will regain connection. It also has Google Assistant and works with custom, voice-activated shortcuts.
