Newcastle could make another three signings after exciting £59m Alexander Isak transfer | Football | Sport

After something of a quiet summer transfer window, Newcastle appear intent on going out with a bang having struck a club-record £59million agreement with Real Sociedad for Swedish striker Alexander Isak. The 22-year-old is set to become the Magpies’ fourth signing of the summer and the feeling is Eddie Howe hasn’t finished adding to his squad just yet.

The Magpies boss has made no secret of his desire to add his attack during the transfer window having bolstered his backline with the signings of Sven Botman and Matt Target, while adding Nick Pope to his goalkeeping options. Newcastle’s need for further firepower only became more urgent last weekend as star striker Callum Wilson sustained a hamstring injury in his side’s thrilling 3-3 draw with reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Tynesiders now appear set to ease their forward fears with it widely reported that they have reached a £59m agreement with La Liga side Real Sociedad for the signing of Isak. Having moved quickly to conduct the transfer, Newcastle are now set to hand the Swede his debut against Wolves this Sunday.

With just over one week of the transfer window remaining, the Magpies will need to act fast in order to add further reinforcements, having already shown interest in a number of other exciting targets. With that in mind, Express Sport takes a closer look at three more mouth-watering transfers they could look to complete before next Thursday’s deadline.

Joao Pedro

Though Newcastle are set to secure a new forward option in Isak, Howe is said to be eager to add multiple names to his attack. The Magpies remain keen on acquiring Watford forward Joao Pedro and are understood to have submitted an eye-catching offer worth £25m plus add-ons for the promising 20-year-old.

Like Isak, the forward will provide Newcastle with a long-term option in attack, and the thought of Pedro linking up with the Magpies’ current Brazilian contingent in Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton is an exhilarating one. With Everton also understood to be eyeing the Hornets frontman, Newcastle may well be forced meet Watford’s £30m asking price in order to secure the striker’s services.

Conor Gallagher

Following Isak’s impending arrival, the only area of the pitch Howe will have yet to strengthen this summer is in midfield. While Guimaraes and Joelinton have proven their worth in the centre of the park, the Magpies could make their midfield three even more formidable by adding Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher into the mix.

Newcastle are one of a number of Premier League teams interested in taking the 22-year-old on loan before the window closes, having seen him star for Crystal Palace last season. With Gallagher reportedly open to a loan move away from Stamford Bridge this summer in order to boost his game-time and subsequent hopes of representing England at the World Cup later this year, joining Howe’s ambitious project will no doubt be considered one of the most tempting options available to the midfielder.
