Tom Brady will soon announce his retirement from the NFL after an incredibly successful 22-year spell in the game – with many deeming him the greatest American football player of all-time after the news broke.

Brady, 44, has been a quarterback in the NFL for over two decades.

Born in San Mateo, California, Brady spent 20 seasons of his life with the New England Patriots.

He is widely regarded as the greatest quarterback of all-time, and mostly as the greatest player of all-time and is one of the most recognisable sporting figures on the planet.

Having started his career at the Patriots, he led the side to 17 division titles from a possible 18, winning six Super Bowl titles along the way at the Gillette Stadium.

But that is all set to come to an end according to ESPN, with the star having been reported by multiple sources to have decided on his retirement.

Having left the field following current side Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss to the Los Angeles Rams last week, Brady reportedly knew it was his final act as a football player.

The Florida-based side lost 27-30 to their California rivals on Sunday in an enthralling encounter which dumped them out of the playoffs

Since, he has been mulling over a retirement mindset.

And he will announce his decision along with planning for the future imminently, sources said.

“It’s been six straight months of football, every day consumed by day in and day out football.

“I think now it’s just some time to spend some time with my family and spend some time with my kids.”

Brady will retire with the most career passing touchdowns of all-time with 624; leading second-placed Drew Brees by 53.
