Ingress is one of the earliest augmented reality apps, and it was released a few years ago. And now, it seems like it’s making its comeback. Niantic has overhauled its Ingress game as Ingress Prime with much more advanced AR tools compared to the previous one. It is now launched on iOS and Android, and it can be downloaded for free.
We all know that Pokemon GO is also an early AR app developed by Niantic Labs, but the first foundation of its idea came from the Ingress. This application almost has the same features with the Pokemon Go, but the only problem with Ingress before is that, the software and smartphone hardware before can’t cope up with the AR trend. This is the reason why Ingress was outpaced before.
But now that our technology has made big advances throughout the AR trend, it is just the right time that Niantic Labs overhauls the old Ingress, to be introduced as the Ingress Prime. The development and overhauling of this app has been first discussed a year ago, and now it is now in the real world.
Ingress Prime offers a more impressive vision of the game that the developer has introduced before. If you had already played the game before and you have an account, you can just log into the new version after updating the old app into the App Store or PlayStore. Your account information such as names, badges, progress, and other important data will be transferred over from Ingress to Ingress Prime. It only means that all of your progress is safe.
If you are not familiar, what really the Ingress Prime is? It is a game wherein you are tasked with choosing one of two sides in a conflict which involves the worldwide players. Each group will secure the control of an energy that flows freely from portals dotting throughout the globe. Just like the Gyms players can do in Pokémon Go, the more portals your side captures, the better. It is a global battle for supremacy that will take place in the real world.
As we have mentioned earlier, Ingress Prime is a way much better than the original one, since there is a lot of additional work put in it to make it bigger and better than before. The overhauling and expansion include an anime series airing in Japan and global via Netflix in 2019 and a live-action web series. Stay tuned with TechnoCodex to be always updated.
