“How do you want it cooked?” has become a very controversial subject when it comes to steak and Nigella Lawson, 62, created quite a buzz after she shared a delicious image of a home-cooked recipe. But the very rare Aberdeen Angus tomahawk wasn’t cooked quite to everyone’s liking, as she was mocked with live animal jokes by fans.

The legendary TV cook took to Instagram to share a picture of a dish she was thrilled with, which she served up alongside green sauce and a side of new potatoes and salad.

While many thought it looked lip-smacking, others told her the steak was “so rare it could be heard mooing”.

Taking to the comments section to share their views, one quipped: “A good vet could save it.”

“Did you forget to cook it?” another teased.

However, Nigella’s recipe actually includes egg noodles, which are not vegan.

The vegan diet prohibits all animal products, including eggs, milk, and cheese, as well as meat and fish.

Veganuary is a movement that has become popular in recent years, in which people opt to stick to a vegan diet throughout the month of January as a New Year’s resolution.

Under Nigella’s post, one Twitter user wrote: “Great recipe – perhaps not vegan with egg noodles though?”

“You’re so right! Thank you,” Nigella tweeted back apologetically.

Reposting the original tweet with a new caption, she penned: “I’m a nincompoop: this is vegetarian not vegan. But to make it vegan-friendly, simply use egg-free noodles,” she added helpfully.

Her quick correction was met with a warm reception from her followers, who thanked her for the recipe.

“No worries, you’re still awesome! Thanks for the correction,” one replied with a heart emoji.
