No MCA AGM on March 19 due to IPL 2022

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Monday decided to postpone their AGM, scheduled for March 19. The decision was taken at an urgent Apex Council meeting. The reason for the postponement according to several MCA officials was that it is too close to the IPL beginning in Mumbai and Pune on March 26.

It is learnt that the nod to postpone the AGM came from Sharad Pawar, the former president and mentor of the association, after a group of MCA members and officials met him recently. “There is time till September 30 to hold the AGM,” an official remarked.

“There is no provision of postponing the AGM once the notice [21 days] is issued. It can be adjourned,” another MCA official told mid-day. MCA veteran member Ravi Madrekar slammed the MCA’s decision to postpone the AGM.

“Just four days before the AGM is scheduled, the meeting is called off. The IPL dates were well known beforehand. If this was to be done, it could have been well in advance. Why now? What made them meet Pawar sir before announcing this decision?” asked Mandrekar.
