We’re only a little over a week away from the Nothing Ear 2 announcement scheduled on March 22. Although the announcement is merely days away, it looks like that’s not going to stop leaks from spoiling the event early.

A leak — provided by The Tech Outlook and tipster OnLeaks — has delivered a few key specifications for Nothing’s incoming earbuds. Along with those specs are several new renders that provide detailed closeups of each earbud and the carrying case.

Based on the images, there are no major external differences between the Nothing Ear 2 and its predecessor that are immediately noticeable. Both consist of a transparent body, have a similar shape, and come in a transparent carrying case. However, there are a couple of minor design changes.

Unlike the previous iteration, it appears the noise-cancelling microphone has been transferred to the top of the stem. The stem also seems to have a slight change to the branding, making it clear these are the Nothing Ear 2.

Moving on to the specs, the leak suggests the earbuds may have 11.6mm speakers, just like the Nothing Ear 1. Another aspect they might share is a six-hour battery life. On the Ear 1, however, this estimate was for playback without active noise-cancelling (ANC) on. The leak doesn’t clarify if this is also the case for the Ear 2.

One area where it does seem like it’s making an improvement is the carrying case battery. If the information is correct, the new carrying case may offer two more hours of charging time than the last one, bringing the total time up to 36 hours. The case also supports charging through its USB-C port or wirelessly with a Qi-compatible charger.

Additionally, Nothing’s new earbuds are said to be 0.2 grams lighter, include ANC, and have an IP54 rating. Other rumors have also claimed the Ear 2 could get multipoint Bluetooth and a personalized ANC feature, both something that the original earbuds don’t have.
