0
Last month, Nothing began beta testing for Nothing OS 1.5, which is based on Android 13. The company has now released the second beta build of Android 13 to beta testers four days earlier than planned, as stated by Nothing CEO Carl Pei in a tweet.
If you are in the beta program and interested, the update, which is only 127 MB, will soon be rolled out to your Phone (1) over the air.
What’s new in Nothing OS 1.5 beta 2
Nothing OS 1.5 beta 2 features new wallpapers, lock screen shortcut buttons that can be customised, and a unique “handcrafted glyph ringtone and notification sound pack.”
A new Quick Settings with the ability to quickly switch data usage for dual SIMs has been included, the animation when turning On or Off the screen has been improved, and the update adds an advanced auto-brightness algorithm.
The update promises to refine the Camera app UI and animation and improve battery life. The Nothing X app is now built into the UI. The pop-up view is now back and improved. Lastly, there are some bug fixes with the promise of increased system stability.
Nothing Phone (1): Android 13 update schedule
The release date for the final version of Nothing OS 1.5 is not specified. The beta update schedule has been one per month, if another beta is planned it will likely be released around mid-February. Therefore, the stable build could come out in March, as it was expected to be released in early 2023.
The first beta build of Nothing OS 1.5 introduced a bunch of new features apart from the Android 13 improvements. The update increases app loading speed by up to 50 percent, improves the background memory, and allows users to close active background apps directly from the notification centre. It also includes a “self-repair” feature that clears the unused cache and expired system dumps, keeping the Phone (1) running like new.
