Marquee Broncos signing Adam Reynolds is in severe doubt for the massive clash against his former club South Sydney in Round 1 of the premiership with a hamstring injury.

Broncos coach Kevin Walters has ruled Reynolds out of the team’s final trial against the Cowboys on Saturday night in Mackay with “leg soreness”.

But Wide World of Sports has learned that Reynolds in fact damaged his hamstring at training and is battling the clock to be fit to take on his old mates.

“It’s touch and go at this point – he is struggling,” a Broncos source told Wide World of Sports.

The development comes just a day after Walters admitted he was reviewing his high-performance program after fielding complaints from players that they were being overtrained over the summer.

Losing Reynolds would be a massive blow for the Broncos in the season-opener against Souths.

As well as being a promoter’s dream having him play against his former club, the Broncos struggled for direction in attack all last season and also in last weekend’s opening trial game against the Titans.
