The Wests Tigers have sacked coach Michael Maguire.

The club released a statement on Tuesday afternoon confirming the news.

“Wests Tigers sincerely thanks Michael for all his hard work and effort over the past three and a half years,” the club said.

“For the rest of the season Brett Kimmorley will take over as interim coach.”

Maguire is the second NRL coach to part ways with his club on Tuesday, after Nathan Brown was axed by the Warriors just a few hours beforehand.

The Tigers board conducted a mid-season review last week where it was decided Maguire should not continue in the job.

He ran training on Tuesday morning but is reportedly set to inform his players of his departure on Tuesday afternoon.

After 13 rounds, the Tigers sit 13th on the NRL ladder with three wins to their name.

Maguire took over from Ivan Cleary four years ago but the team has slipped backwards on the ladder each season since.

The Tigers have not featured in finals since 2011.

Maguire is the third coach to lose his job this season. Trent Barrett quit his post at the Bulldogs last month.
