Nvidia Confirmed to Launch GeForce GTX 1060 with GDDR5X Memory

0

The official site of Nvidia has confirmed that it is on its way of preparing the next model of the popular medium-level graphics card GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB with GDDR5X memory. The highlight of this new graphics card is the use of GP104 GP106, a graphic chip from Nvidia.

We previously had a hint of this before when a leak said that Nvidia might be working on a new GTX 1060 model with a GDDR5X memory.  And as per the information mentioned above, this allegation was confirmed to be true. The standard GTX 1060 features a GDDR5 memory, it only means that the new one will slightly increase its performance.

In addition to its highlighted feature, it will also be equipped with a fast cache memory standard GDDR5X. Just like its predecessor, it is also based on the crystal Polaris 30, with 1280 CUDA Cores, 1506 MHz base clock and 1708 boost clock. You can see the updated specification on the official website of Nvidia.

Some people say that it will replace the previous one, but we can be sure that it is not a replacement for the older cards with older memory, both of them will be available instead.

Even though the new 1060 might offer a slight boost in performance, but it might not be a big deal for people who already have the standard 6 GB GTX 1060.  But since it is not yet available, we might not have seen its full potential yet. Let us just wait for its official release, and expect for big things to happen.  Just stay tuned with TechnoCodex to be always updated.
