Oppo recently expanded its F-series of smartphones with the launch of Oppo F21 Pro and Oppo F21 Pro 5G. Both the smartphones are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and run the Android 12 operating system topped with ColorOS 12. Out of the two, F21 Pro is more affordable and is priced at Rs 22,990. The smartphone sports a stylish design and also claims to offer a smooth and fast performance. We got a chance to use the Oppo F21 Pro for some time and here are our first impressions.
Design
Oppo F21 Pro sports a refreshing slab-like design. The sleek and lightweight design of the smartphone makes it look elegant and easy to use with one hand. We received the Sunset Orange variant of the Oppo F21 Pro. The Sunset Orange variant features a Fibreglass-Leather design on its back that doubles as a ‘frameless’ battery cover. This makes the smartphone thin and also makes it water-resistant. The textured leather panel houses the triple rear camera setup placed inside a protruding rectangular module. The front of the compact smartphone is dominated by a 6.43-inch display and a 32MP selfie shooter placed in the top left corner. The power button is located on the right, while the volume rockers and SIM card tray is placed on the left. The bottom part is home to the speaker grill and USB Type C charging port.

Display
Oppo F21 Pro features a 6.43-inch full HD+ display with 1080×2400 pixel resolution. The display offers 90Hz refresh rate and is protected with a coating of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The display on the Oppo F21 Pro is surrounded by thin bezels on all sides offering a lot of real estate on the screen. The screen offers up to 600 nits brightness level and perfect readability under direct sunlight. The display offers accurate colour reproduction which makes it suitable for binge-watching.
Hardware and software
Oppo F21 Pro is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM. The smartphone packs 128GB of internal storage. Along with this, the smartphone also comes with up to 5GB of virtual RAM. The dual SIM smartphone packs a 4,500 mAh battery with 33W SuperVOOC charging support. The smartphone performed smoothly during our initial testing. There was no visible lag and the gaming experience was also fine. However, to know the complete battery analysis and the performance of the smartphone you will have to wait for our complete review.

Oppo F21 Pro runs Android 12 operating system topped with the company’s own layer of ColorOS 12. The new UI layer comes with a new design and enhanced privacy and security features. The new ColorOS 12 comes with a brand-new style acrylic icon, borderless design and new interface frame. The latest OS skin from Oppo comes with a responsive design system and grid layout. ColorOS 12 offers quick-view cards or widgets. With the new OS skin, users can now add widget components they need like smart car search, nearby shops, IoT equipment and others. Along with this, the smartphone also offers the native Android 12 features.
Camera
Oppo F21 Pro sports a triple rear camera setup which comprises of 64MP main camera with f/1.7 aperture, a 2MP microscope camera with f/3.3 aperture and a 2MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture. The smartphone also houses a 32MP selfie shooter with an f/2.4 aperture. In our initial time with the smartphone, we were able to test it under broad daylight and the camera managed to offer some really good shots. The images captured offered ample amounts of detailing with vibrant colour reproduction. The front camera will also impress you with its output. The camera also offers various shooting modes and we will talk about them in our complete review. But the smartphone managed to impress us with its initial camera performance.

What we think
Oppo F21 Pro offers all-round specs and it comes across as a promising mid-range smartphone. Powered by an octa-core processor, the smartphone offers SuperVOOC fast charging and the latest version of the Android operating system. But to decide whether it’s a good buy or not you will have to read our complete review.
