Oppo Reno 8, Reno 8 Pro launched in India: Specifications, price and more

Oppo has launched the Reno 8 series in India. The latest Reno series comprises two models – Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro. The Reno 8 series was first launched in China a few months ago, having three models – Reno 8, Reno 8 Pro and Reno 8 Pro+. The Reno 8 launched in India is the same as the vanilla model launched in China, but the Reno 8 Pro launched in the country is a rebranded Reno 8 Pro+. Oppo also introduced the Enco X2 TWS earbuds and Oppo Pad Air along with the Reno 8 series in India.

Oppo Reno 8 comes at Rs 29,999 for the single 8GB+128GB storage variant. Meanwhile, the Reno 8 Pro costs Rs 45,999 in India. The Reno 8 Pro and Reno 8 will be available for purchase from July 19 and July 25, respectively.

The Reno 8 features a 6.43-inch FHD AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a peak brightness of 800 nits. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Dimensity 1300 chipset paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Meanwhile, the Reno 8 Pro comes with a tad-bigger 6.7-inch FHD AMOLED display with a higher 120Hz refresh rate. Further, the AMOLED panel on the Reno 8 Pro has HDR10+ certification. Mediatek’s Dimensity 8100-Max powers the smartphone. It comes in a lone 12GB+256GB storage variant.
Both the smartphones run Android 12-based ColorOS 12.1 out of the box. Further, the Reno 8 series features a 2.2x larger vapour cooling chamber compared to the Reno 7 series.
As for the optics, both the Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro shares the same camera setup on the rear and front. The Reno 8 series equips a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor, an 8MP IMX355 ultrawide unit and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, both smartphones have a 32MP Sony IMX709 sensor for selfies.
The Reno 8 Pro comes with the MariSilicon X NPU. Oppo’s in-house NPU claims to improve low-light 4K video quality and enables 4K HDR video recording.
The two smartphones boast the same 4500mAh battery with support for 80W SuperVOOC charging. Oppo claims that the SuperVOOC charger can top up 50 per cent of battery in 11 minutes.
