The Snitch, the leaker who has a 100% correct leak record so far, now claims that Overwatch 2 will be a free-to-play experience!
So, this year’s Summer Game Fest has been pretty exciting so far with Sony’s State of Play and the special showcase from Geoff Keighley. However, there is still a big showcase ahead, which belongs to the Xbox Game Studios family.

Just a few days before this month’s State of Play, a Twitter account called The Snitch, leaked all parts of the showcase correctly, and then it was followed by some other leaks like The Last of Us Part 1 Remake announcements which turned to be true as well.
Now, the same leaker claims that Overwatch 2 will be a free-to-play experience, and regarding the fact that the game will have a dedicated showcase on June 16, it might be the next big surprise for gamers this year!
Overwatch 2 Becoming Free-to-Play Could Be a Positive Move from Blizzard
Despite featuring heavy in-game monetization plans, Blizzard still tends to launch its AAA titles as paid products rather than free-to-play experiences. However, this might be changed for Overwatch 2 regarding the recent leak from The Snitch.
So, it wasn’t a direct claim by the leaker after all. The Snitch just put some dialogues of the characters in an Overwatch 2 teaser trailer in their tweet and added a line at the end saying “We Are Free-to-Play.” You can check out that teaser trailer above.
You can expect a big reveal event for Overwatch 2 to officially go live on June 16 at 10 am PT/1 pm ET/5 pm UTC. Hopefully, we can get more official information about the game during this event.
Overwatch 2 is supposed to be launched on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. A release date is yet to be revealed.
