Photo-sharing via Google Photos, navigation drawer and other features coming to Google Messages

Google recently rolled out iMessage reaction support for the Google Messages app. According to a report, it is now planning a new feature that will allow users to share photos and videos saved in the Google Photos app via Google Messages.
The new APK insight spotted by 9to5Google suggests that the tech giant is testing a new method to share images and videos inside an MMS chat. Opening the media picker inside a chat on Google Messages will show a promo card. It will give the option to “share videos as they’re meant to be seen and preserve video clarity when you send Google Photos links in MMS conversations.”
Enabling the feature will allow users to select files which will then appear in the compose field with a Google Photos badge and file size. As stated above, the feature will work for both images and videos. In the settings, Google will also provide a shortcut to manage shared links in the Google Photos app.
The report also states that Google is bringing back the ‘hamburger menu’ also known as the ‘navigation drawer’ to the Google Messages app. A shared screenshot in the report shows the navigation drawer placed on the left side of the search field. It includes items like “Starred,” “Archived,” “Spam & blocked,” “Device pairing,” “Choose theme,” and “Mark all as read.” At present, most of these options are placed in the three-dot menu on the right.
Another upcoming feature to the Google Messages apps is an account switcher that may be placed on the top right corner. While there are not many details about the feature, it is likely that the account switcher will be similar to the one currently offered in Gmail and Google Play app.
