The Premium Bond millionaires this month are from Outer London and Suffolk and this month savers saw an extra £79million added to the prize pot. The first winning bond number was 333XB827779 and had savings of £50,000 in Premium Bonds. The London winner purchased their winning bond four years ago in June 2018. 

 

The win makes them the ninth winner from the Outer London area.

The second winning Bond number was  226HV323415 and the Suffolk winner also had £50,000 in bonds. 

The winning bond was purchased in July 2014 and are the ninth millionaire from Suffolk. 

October’s prize fund rate increased from 1.40 percent to 2.20 percent which NS&I states is the “single biggest increase” in more than 40 years.

The move made the odds of winning increase from 24,500 to one to 24,000 to one.

The change also increased the number of people able to win the £100,000 cash prize from 10 in September to 18 this month.

Meanwhile, the number of £50,000 prizes increased from 20 to 35.

There were also 19 times as many £50 and £100 prizes paid out in October.

This month 71 people won £25,000, 178 won a £10,000 cash prize, and 357 people won a prize worth £5,000. 

Just over 4,300 Britons won a prize of £1,000 and over 13,000 won £500. 

In October, NS&I awarded £218million worth of prizes – up £4.9million on previous months due to the prize rate increase.

NS&I urges Britons to check if they have won a prize. Usually, prize winners are notified if they win, however, sometimes NS&I cannot contact the winner.

In Suffolk, there are 22,656 unclaimed prizes with a total value of £725,300. 

The largest prize left unclaimed is £1,000 and there are nine winners who have a cash prize to claim. 

The nine £1,000 prizes drawn were won between May 1986 and December 2020. 

The oldest unclaimed prize in Suffolk is from May 1967 and is worth £25.

Since the start of NS&I’s Premium Bonds draws in 1957, 587 million prizes have been given out to lucky winners with a total value of £23.6billion.
