Kyogre and Groudon have been challenging Pokemon Go players in five-star raids since December 2017, but at Pokemon Go Tour: Hoenn next month, both are about to receive a primal power boost.
The Primal Reversion version of Kyogre and Groudon–special forms that debuted in the 3DS games Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire–will be available to all players who participate in Pokemon Go Tour: Hoenn, either live in Las Vegas or during the global in-game event one week later.
Primal Surge Field Research tasks will be available to participants in the events, which will eventually lead to a raid encounter with Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre. Both legendaries will also know unique moves when caught, with Primal Groudon knowing the Charged Attack Precipice Blade and Primal Kyogre knowing the Charged Attack Origin Pulse.
If Primal Groudon or Primal Kyogre are in a player’s party or set as the Buddy Pokemon, Pokemon of certain types will receive boosts for as long as the Primal Reversion is active:
- Primal Kyogre
- Boosts the attack of Water-, Electric-, and Bug-type Pokemon when in party
- Boosts Candy and experience points received from caught Water-, Electric-, and Bug-type Pokemon when set to Buddy Pokemon
- Primal Groudon
- Boosts the attack of Fire-, Grass-, and Ground-type Pokemon when in party
- Boosts Candy and experience points received from caught Fire-, Grass-, and Ground-type Pokemon when set to Buddy Pokemon
Pokemon Go is available now for both iOS and Android devices. Pokemon Go Tour: Hoenn – Las Vegas is scheduled for February 18-19 from 10 AM to 6 PM PT at Sunset Park, while Pokemon Go Tour: Hoenn – Global will follow one week later, February 25-26 from 10 AM to 6 PM local time.
