Publisher Prime Matter and developer Mad Head Games have recently released a new trailer for its upcoming third-person action-adventure game — Scars Above — at the ongoing Gamescom event. The developer has shared the trailer on its official YouTube account that demonstrates some of the game’s tone and setting. The trailer has also offered a glimpse at the gameplay a bit while its primary focus is on the story. According to a report by IGN, the game was first revealed as part of a line-up from Prime Matter, a new “premium gaming label” from Koch Media. Scars Above is a sci-fi action-adventure game that was originally announced in June 2021. The story of this game will revolve around an alien structure that has appeared in Earth’s orbit, which will ultimately set everything else into motion.

As an investigation team attempts to examine the structure named — The Metahedron — are carried away to a new world where they have to fight for survival while trying to find a way back home. In this game, players have to take on the role of Kate Ward, a scientist-astronaut who finds herself trapped on a hostile alien planet.
Another report by GamingBolt claims that Scars Above’s gameplay was earlier showcased along with the original announcement last year. The report mentions that since then, the game has gone through multiple new changes, especially in its visuals.

The new trailer shows that Scars Above will include — combat, exploration and puzzle-solving along with first-person gunplay against alien beasts, reports IGN. The trailer has also revealed a “healthy dosage” of Returnal and Metroid-like monsters, the report adds.
