Princess Anne: Royal wears accessories with poignant meanings

Princess Anne was photographed today in Portsmouth as she met with members of the Royal Marines Band, who took part in Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral procession, at Portsmouth Naval Base. The royal donned a simple yet elegant outfit of black jacket and matching trousers. She completed the look with poignant accessories.

Princess Anne opted for a black wool coat for her visit to Portsmouth, as well as a matching pair of black trousers.

Even though the 10-day period of national mourning is over, the Royal Family are still in mourning for the Queen, and so are continuing to wear black.

Anne donned a pair of shiny black shoes and there was a glimpse of white blouse underneath her coat.

The blouse seemed to have a checkered pattern and a large collar.

This brooch could also be in tribute to the Queen as the crown refers to a monarch.

Anne was last seen wearing the brooch back in 2012 – at the time, the Princess Royal pinned it to the navy blue collar of her navy and white checkered jacket.

She wore the jacket with a pleated navy blue skirt and a matching wide-brimmed hat, completing the look with a pair of simple heeled court shoes and a black leather handbag,

Anne carried a handbag with her in Portsmouth today too. It was a bag Anne has been seen wearing at every engagement since her mother’s death on Thursday, September 8.

The bag is the Balmoral Blue Jura Handbag, which, surprisingly, is from Balmoral Castle’s gift shop.

The saddle-shaped bag is navy blue and features a blue and white tartan print. It has a leather strap and a navy blue tassel dangling from its zip.

Anne has been seen carrying the accessory under her arm, co-ordinating it with various outfits.

She donned the bag on September 10, September 11, September 13, and September 15.

Describing the accessory, the gift shop said: “This Jura design handbag is made by The Leather Guild with our special Balmoral Blue tweed and luxurious leather.

“The lovely shoulder or cross body bag, which is ideal for the womanon the go, comes with a wide adjustable shoulder strap for comfort and style. With a range of zipped pockets inside and out for easy access to your bits and pieces.”

The bag is still for sale on the Balmoral Castle gift shop’s website and costs £80.95.

It is a clear nod towards the Queen as it represents the place where she peacefully died.

Balmoral Castle was also the late monarch’s favourite spot in the UK, where she visited regularly: it was a quiet corner of the country where she could spend a few days in the fresh, country air – in privacy.
