PUBG Battlegrounds down: How long are servers down for PUBG free to play update? | Gaming | Entertainment

PUBG servers will be down for nearly two days this week as Krafton prepare to launch it as a free to play title.

The good news is that we know precisely when PUBG won’t be available to play and when everyone will be able to jump back in.

Krafton is hoping that the change in pricing will help bring fresh blood to the game, which has been seeing declining numbers on platforms like Steam.

However, even without the F2P change, PUBG Battlegrounds remains one of the biggest on Steam and is hugely popular with its hardcore player base.

One thing to note about this maintenance period is that it will be happening simultaneously on all platforms, with test servers also affected.

A message Krafton adds this on the big update launching this week in PUBG: “Hello, Survivors. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS has advanced through various platforms to share its unique Battle Royale experience with a broader audience.

“Now with our free-to-play transition, we want to further expand our community, provide faster matchmaking, and the opportunity to meet more opponents. After the transition free-to-play, BATTLEGROUNDS Plus account is added and all players who have owned and played PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS before the free-to-play service transition will automatically receive the PUBG – SPECIAL COMMEMORATIVE PACK.”

“We look forward to sharing our unique Battle Royale experience with more survivors. For details on the free play service transition, please check the Free-to-Play Announcement.

“Please note that the maintenance time may take longer than usual, as we will be updating each platform’s store and distributing rewards to our existing players.

“The Test Server will close along with the Live Server Maintenance. Due to the transition to free-to-play, the 15.2 Live Server will go under maintenance at the same time on both PC and Console.”

HOW LONG ARE PUBG SERVERS DOWN?

Krafton has confirmed that PUBG servers are now down and will be going live again on January 12.

Live & Test Servers will undergo maintenance for approximately 38 hours as the game transitions to F2P, starting Jan 10 10AM PST/Jan 10 7PM CET/Jan 11 3AM KST.

No end time for the maintenance has been confirmed as it might run longer than first forecast, and there is a good chance that gamers in the UK will be waiting until January 13 to start playing again.

More news is expected to be shared by the PUBG team as we get closer to the launch time on January 12.
