Qualcomm Introduced Snapdragon X55 Modem which delivers speed upto 7Gbps

Qualcomm has introduced its second-generation Snapdragon X55 5G Modem just a few days ahead of MWC 2019. Snapdragon X55 5G Modem is a cellular Modem which is capable enough to deliver 5G speed upto 7Gbps. As per the Qualcomm, this Modem will accelerate the pace of network operators and smartphone manufacturers to rollout 5G technology around the globe.

Snapdragon X55 is a Multi-Mode chipset based on the 7nm fabrication that supports network range from 2G to 5G. This chipset supports both 5G mmWave and sub-6GHz frequency bands and will work on standalone 5G networks. Also, it will support all the major 4G bands and will boost up the download speed of 4G network upto 2.5Gbps. While in terms of the speed delivery on 5G network, Qualcomm claims this chipset to deliver a download speed upto 7Gbps and upload speed upto 3Gbps.

Snapdragon X55 Modem supports Stand Alone Mode for the time when only 5G networks will be available, while its predecessor X50 only supports Non-Stand Alone Mode. So, this chipset has been made taking care of future requirements. Another advantage of Snapdragon X55 is the support for older networks to which it can be connected to a chipset without a modem. While the device having X50 depends upon the chipset’s LTE support.

So overall, this is a futuristic Modem made by Qualcomm to fill the gap of the 5G network with better capabilities. However, Snapdragon X50 is going to be available in the devices going to be launched in the upcoming week at MWC 2019.
