Queen Letizia of Spain: Why monarch couldn’t wear ‘stunning’ brooch she almost lost

During the military parade which took place on January 6, the beautiful brooch fell from Letizia’s dress.

Her husband King Felipe VI quickly helped her recover the jewel as they walked towards the Royal Palace of Madrid.

Claire Adler, founder of Claire Adler Luxury PR, commented: “This beautiful brooch is known as Queen Ena’s grey pearl drop brooch. A delicate grey pearl is encircled by two rows of brilliant diamonds and a pearl pendant is suspended from it. In fact, a photograph of Queen Ena in the 1920s shows she wore this entire brooch in the form of a necklace pendant.

“The most prized jewels often have an in-built versatility and can be worn in different ways or they can be easily adjusted and altered so they can be re-styled to suit the needs of the wearer. A necklace becomes a tiara, just as easily as sometimes a pendant like this one once was, can become a pendant. Queen Letizia’s mother-in-law Queen Sofia has also worn this brooch.”
