Reddit Experiments with Live Streaming by Launching Five-Day Live Streaming Test

0

Reddit Today revealed that they are testing a new live streaming feature for mobile users. The giant has also introduced its new five-day live streaming test. The new live streaming service of Reddit would be called Reddit Public Access Network. This live streaming test will be running throughout the week.

The testing phase of this new live streaming service is to see how Redditors make use of this service and what type of contents they upload to serve their followers. Reddit actually wants to see whether this new live streaming service would help the users or not before releasing the public update of the service.

The service will let you access the series of short videos posted by the users of Reddit. These videos will appear to everyone within this test phase before its actual announcement.

If we talk about the availability of this new feature, then the new Live Streaming feature of Reddit would be available from 9 am to 5 pm PT every day this week. According to Reddit’s VP, there will be 100 short videos available concurrently. They have also set the time limit for videos to 30 minutes.

The aim behind launching this live streaming service is to encourage Reddit users to explore more of the platform without exploring the other platforms. The users can upvote and downvote the live streaming video in real-time.

What’s unique here is Reddit’s live streaming service can only be broadcasted using the rear camera of the phone. You will not live blog yourself with the selfie camera as the service will only support the rear camera.

We have seen almost every social network has its own live streaming service where users can go live to let their followers and friends explore and see the same things. Reddit also has a huge number of users and they also want to share things with their following within the same platform.

Reddit will not allow the NSFW contents on the platform. Most people make use of this platform to earn money by selling pornographic content. But Reddit will not let them use the same technique with this new live streaming service.
