Redmi K60 series may launch before the end of 2022: Report

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is expected to launch the K60 series before the end of 2022. Earlier this month, when MediaTek launched the Dimensity 8200 chipset, Redmi confirmed that this chip will feature in the upcoming K60E smartphone. A report by a tipster named Digital Chat Station claims that the Redmi K60E will replace last year’s K50 device, the K60 will succeed the K50 Pro and the K60 Pro will replace the K50G handset.
Redmi K60 series expected specifications
The Redmi K60 Pro which is set to replace the Redmi K50G or the Gaming Edition may come powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. This device may also offer an improved screen and cooling system for enhanced gaming performance.
Meanwhile, the Redmi K60 is rumoured to feature the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. To compare, its predecessor came powered by the Dimensity 8100 chipset which will also power the upcoming K60E.
Redmi and gaming phones
According to a report by FoneArena, the general manager of Redmi, Lu Weibing has said that “there is no need for a separate gaming edition of mobile phones in 2023,”. While replying to a question about the absence of the gaming edition in the Redmi K60 series, Weibing also added that gaming mobile phones will eventually stop existing.

Instead of introducing separate gaming edition models, the company is expected to start delivering performance upgrades and power efficiency on its current flagships to offer a better gaming experience to the users.
Redmi K60: Rumoured specs
Leaked renders of the upcoming Redmi K60 smartphone recently started making rounds on the internet. The device is expected to feature a 6.67-inch flat OLED display with 2K resolution and an in-screen optical fingerprint sensor. The K60 handset may pack 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
For optics, the device may house a triple rear camera setup including 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP secondary lens and a 2MP tertiary unit. Redmi K60 is also likely to feature a 16MP front shooter for selfies and video calls. The handset is rumoured to pack a 5,500 mAh battery unit and may support 67W wired fast charging and 30W wireless fast charging technology.
