Redmi Note 5 Launching in India on February 14; Source Code Reveals
Earlier this month, Xiaomi has confirmed that it will be launching a new smartphone in India on Feb. 14. Xiaomi has rolled out media invites to an event scheduled next week in New Delhi. Some sources are claiming that the Chinese manufacturer will be launching the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones that were unveiled in China in December 2017. While other believe that due to the huge popularity of Redmi Note 4 in India, Xiaomi will launch Redmi 5 Plus as Redmi Note 5 in India.
“redminote5” has been found clearly written in the source codes of the official event page on Mi.com. This indicates that the company will unveil the much awaited Redmi Note 5 in India on Feb. 14.
This ascertains that the upcoming device is indeed Redmi Note 5. It will most probably be the rebrand variant of the Redmi 5 Plus that was launched in China back in December last year.
To recall, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus runs on MIUI9 based on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system and sports a 5.99” full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixel) 18:9 display. The smartphone is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. It offers 3GB/4GB RAM with 32GB/64GB internal storage which is expandable to 128GB via microSD card.
For photography, the Redmi 5 Plus sports a 12MP primary camera with dual-tone LED flash and 1.25μm pixel size. On the front, it has a 5MP selfie shooter with LED flash support for better selfies.
The smartphone is fueled by a 4000 mAh battery. Connectivity options include Dual-SIM support, G LTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and a micro USB port. There is also a fingerprint at the rear panel of the device.
