Reliance Jio has reiterated its promise that it will offer affordable 5G services to “every town, every taluka, and every tehsil of our country.” Setting the ball rolling, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani said during the Indian Mobile Congress 2022 that 5G as a foundational technology will unlock the full potential of other 21st century technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Robotics, Blockchain, and Metaverse.
The announcement is in line with Ambani’s comments at the Reliance Industry’s 45th Annual General Meeting where he said that Reliance Jio 5G services will start rolling on Diwali, which falls on October 24.
What are the cities Jio is launching 5G in
Jio 5G services will be launched across metropolises of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai alongside various other key cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Pune and more.
When will customers in other cities get 5G services
The company plans to cover entire India by December 2023. At the Reliance Industry’s 45th Annual General Meeting in August, Ambani said that Jio has prepared an ambitious 5G roll-out plan and the company is fully ready for 5G rollout in the shortest period of time.

What will be the pricing of 5G services offered by Jio
Although there is no specific word on the pricing of the 5G services, Akash Ambani said, “We (Jio) will make it very affordable, it should be affordable for every Indian – right from device to service.” Separate 5G tariffs are expected to be announced at a later date.
How to access Jio 5G services
The 5G services can be availed on 5G-enabled smartphones. The company has also partnered with Google to develop ultra-affordable 5G smartphones.
How much spectrum Jio acquired in auction
In the auction that concluded in August, Jio emerged as the largest bidder. It acquired 24,740 MHz of 5G airwaves after spending a whopping Rs 88,078 crore in 40 rounds of bidding over seven straight days. Jio’s spending contributes nearly 59% to the central kitty.
Jio’s buys included frequencies in the super-efficient but costly 700 MHz band. The coveted pan-India airwaves in the 700 MHz band may give Jio a competitive advantage over Airtel on 5G coverage quality front that could help it gain more top-end customers and revenue market share.
