Richard Osman, 52, has once again hit out at the BAFTA TV Awards 2023 in view of his 1.2 million Twitter followers. The former Pointless presenter voiced his frustration after daytime producers were left “angry” that only two daytime shows had received nominations.

He called on BAFTA to take daytime TV makers “seriously” as it “represents the whole industry”.

In a tweet sent earlier today, Richard said: “Am hoping BAFTA might rethink their Daytime award shortlist, I know a lot of daytime producers are angry that only 2 daytime shows have been nominated. I mean, #TheChase will win anyway, but it would be nice to be taken seriously by an academy which represents the whole industry.” (sic)

In a follow-up tweet, Richard added: “If they do add another programme to the list I’m happy to withdraw any programme I’m personally involved with from consideration.

The TV star added: “If I made Bridge Of Lies, HUTH [Homes Under The Hammer], Come Dine [With Me], Lingo etc I think I’d feel robbed. Why bother having the category?”

He followed up a moment later, adding: “Apologies for such a TV-centric tweet, but it can be such a snobbish industry sometimes.”

Richard had attached a nominees list to his post, displaying Pointless rival The Chase, The Repair Shop: A Royal Visit, and Scam Interceptors.

“I love all three of those nominated shows (but the brilliant Repair Shop was on at 8pm),” he explained, seemingly implying that the daytime TV award was the wrong category for the show.

Express.co.uk has contacted BAFTA for comment.
