RuPaul net worth: How Drag Race host made impressive multi-million pound fortune


RuPaul, 60, has produced and hosted the reality competition series RuPaul’s Drag Race since 2009 which sees contestants given different challenges each week. How much has he earned throughout his career?

According to CelebrityNetWorth, the star has a net worth of £44million. 

Thanks to his successful career in the industry, he is widely considered to be the most commercially successful drag queen in the United States.

Struggling to kickstart his career, RuPaul performed local at places like the Celebrity Club or as a backup singer to Glen Meadmore.

His first break was in 1989 when he was cast as an extra, dancing in the music video ‘Love Shack’ by the B-52s.

In 1996, he landed his own talk show called ‘The RuPaul Show’ which featured guests and musical acts including Diana Ross, Nirvana and Duran Duran.

He added to his net worth by recording a podcast with Michelle Visage.

Returning to television screens in 2009 with the reality television competition series ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’, the show has now been aired in countries all around the world. 

It was originally aired on Logo but for the return of its ninth series, it moved to VH1.

In addition to his hit television show, RuPaul has hosted a number of other shows including ‘Good Work’, ‘RuPaul’, and ‘Gay for Play Game Show Starring RuPaul’.

He has also added to his bank balance by appearing as an actor in films such as ‘Crooklyn’, ‘The Brady Bunch Move’ and ‘But I’m a Cheerleader’. 

In 2013, the star partnered with cosmetics manufacturer Colorevolution to launch his debut make-up line and beauty collection.

This was all released along with his unisex perfume called ‘Glamazon’.

RuPaul’s multiple streams of income don’t stop there with him also being interested in property.

In 2019, he spent £10million on a mansion in Beverley Hills and has owned an apartment in New York for more than 25 years. 

He also has a condo in West Hollywood, California.

In his personal life, RuPaul married Georges LeBar in 1994 after meeting at a nightclub in New York City. 

The couple tied the knot three years ago.
