After launching in India and other Asian Countries, the Samsung Galaxy A8 2018 has now arrived in Europe as well. The smartphone is currently listed on the company’s Netherlands website with the price tag of €499 ($588 / Rs. 37,700 approx) in Black, Orchid Grey, and Gold color options. While the Galaxy A8+ 2018 – the older sibling of the series and the Blue color option is missing from the listing. It may not be available in Europe.
Talking about specifications, the Samsung Galaxy A8 2018 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with the Samsung Experience UI on top. It features a 5.6” full-HD+ (2220×1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass on top. The smartphone is powered by a 2.2GHz 64-bit Exynos 7885 octa-core SoC coupled with Mali-G71 GPU. It offers 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.
For photography, the Samsung Galaxy A8 2018 comes equipped with dual-selfie camera setup with a combination of a 16MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture and an 8MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture. The dual cameras are used to create from clear portrait shots to close-ups with background blur. There is a pre-installed Live Focus feature that helps users to adjust the bokeh effect before or after taking the picture. One can also add stickers to a selfie as well. On the rear side, there is a single 16MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture and dual LED flash.
The Samsung Galaxy A8 2018 is fueled by a 3000mAh battery with fast charging and wireless charging support. Connectivity options include Dual-SIM support, NFC, MST, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz), VHT80, 256QAM, Bluetooth v 5.0 (LE up to 2Mbps), ANT+, GPS, Glonass, and USB Type-C port. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back just beneath the primary camera module. It measures 149.2 x 70.6 x 8.4 mm and weighs 172 grams.
Meanwhile, both the Galaxy A8 2018 and Galaxy A8+ 2018 are expected to go on sale in India tomorrow January 10, 2018.
