Samsung Galaxy J6, Galaxy J8 With sAMOLED Infinity Displays Launched in India

Samsung has today launched two new ‘J series’ mid-range smartphones dubbed as Samsung Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J8 in India. The Samsung Galaxy J6 comes with the price tag of Rs. Rs 13,990 for the 3GB RAM variant and Rs. 16,490 for the 4GB RAM option. The Galaxy J8, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 18,990. Both devices will come in Blue, Black, and Gold colour options and will be available on Flipkart, Paytm and Samsung Stores across India. Galaxy J6 sales start from May 22, while the Galaxy J8 will hit the market on June 20.

As for launch offer, the Samsung Galaxy J6 Buyers will be eligible for cashback of Rs. 1,500 on purchases made via Paytm Mall; the same cashback will be provided on units bought using ICICI credit cards. There will also be a one-time screen replacement offer on the handsets purchased by 20 June 2018.

The Samsung Galaxy J6 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system and sports a 5.6” HD+ (1480 x 720 pixels) Super AMOLED  Infinity display with 18.5: 9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass on top. The smartphone is powered by the 1.6GHz Exynos 7870 octa-core processor coupled with Mali T830 GPU. It offers 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage, the storage can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.

For photography, the Samsung Galaxy J6 sports a 13MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash support for better lowlight capturing. On the front, it has an 8MP selfie shooter with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash. The smartphone also supports Face Unlock feature and have Artificial Intelligence features like object and scene detection.

The Samsung Galaxy J6 is fuelled by a 3000mAh battery. Connectivity options include Dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio and USB port. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back. It measures 149.3 x 70.2 x 8.2 mm and weighs 154 grams.

The Samsung Galaxy J68 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system and sports a 6” HD+ (1480 x 720 pixels) Super AMOLED  Infinity display with 18.5: 9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass on top. The smartphone is powered by the 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. It offers 4GB RAM and 46GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.

For photography, the Samsung Galaxy J8 comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup with a combination of a 16MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture and LED flash support along with a 5MP secondary camera with f/1.9 aperture. On the front, it has a 16MP selfie shooter with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash. The smartphone also supports Face Unlock feature and have Artificial Intelligence features like object and scene detection.

Both the smartphones also have a feature called ‘Chat over Video’ that allows users to chat on WhatsApp and the default messaging app whilst watching videos. The feature, which Samsung claims has been developed by their Indian R&D team, overlays a translucent chat window and keyboard over the video being played. The handsets also come with a few memory management features like move to memory card, delete duplicate images, zip unused apps and delete saved APK files. The phones come with AI camera in the Samsung Mall and Samsung Pay Mini for mobile payments.
