Samsung Galaxy S9 Not Coming With Under Display Fingerprint Scanner, Mass Production Begins in December

2

According to new reports coming from a South Korean publication, Samsung has decided not to include the fingerprint scanner under the screen of its next-generation Galaxy S models and is rumored to start mass production in December this year.

Earlier, Samsung was trying to implement under the screen fingerprint technology even with the Galaxy S8, but due to certain technical difficulties, Samsung wasn’t able to implement the technology.

Samsung will instead likely place the fingerprint scanner on the back of the upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9+ flagship phones. However, a recent report had revealed that Samsung plans to shift the location of the fingerprint sensor which was earlier placed alongside the camera module, where it wasn’t the easiest to access and get lots of criticism.

The publication claims that the pilot production of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ began in the previous month. And, now that the company has finalized on the specification of both the phones, their mass production will begin in December.

An industry insider said that Samsung does not plan to give up on the tech, but rather will try implementing it in the next, Galaxy Note 9.
