Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 may get a ‘big’ change, Galaxy Z Fold5 may stay the same

While Samsung’s next batch of foldable smartphones might still be months away, the rumour mill has already started churning, setting up early expectations of what to expect from the fifth-generation of Galaxy Z Fold and Flip smartphones. This comes from the tipster IceUniverse, who shares some of the specifications of the two upcoming foldables.
From the looks of it, the Galaxy Z Flip seems to be in for some ‘big’ change. However, the Galaxy Z Fold might look the same as it has for a while now.
Samsung’s next Galaxy Z Flip to take on Oppo’s Find N2=
IceUniverse says that the Galaxy Z Flip5 may come with a larger external display, measuring 3.4 inches diagonally. If the rumour turns out to be true, then the cover display of Galaxy Z Flip5 may be bigger than the 3.26 inches cover display of Oppo’s Find N2 Flip. Furthermore, the cover display is said to have an aspect ratio of 1:1.038, which means it should be a perfect square. Moreover, the inner bezels are said to be narrower.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 may be narrower, thinner, and lighter than Galaxy Z Fold4
Now, onto the Galaxy Z Fold5, the next foldable of Samsung should retain the same 6.2-inch coverscreen as its predecessor. However, it will be a bit narrower, 0.2mm to be exact, than the Galaxy Z Fold4. Also, it will be thinner than its predecessor, being at 13. mm when folded compared to Galaxy Z Fold4, which closes in at 15.88mm thick. Lastly, the tipster said that it will be lighter too, weighing in at 254 grams.
The two upcoming foldables – the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 – are said to use the new waterdrop-style hinge, which should help minimise the crease on the two smartphones.
As of now, that is all we know of the upcoming foldables. We are still months away from Samsung taking the wraps off the phones, so we suggest taking this rumour with a pinch of salt.
