South Korean smartphone brand Samsung has shut down its Tizen app store. The store’s website is no longer available for all users including existing as well as new users. In June 2021, the company closed new registrations on the store. It was, however, accessible for existing TizenOS users who could only install the previously downloaded apps.
As per a report by Tizen Help, the Tizen app store is permanently closed after December 31. If one visits the website, he/she is greeted with an error code on the screen.
Samsung Galaxy Z4 was the last device to run on TizenOS. It was launched in 2017. But, Samsung continued to ship its smartwatches with Tizen OS. With the Samsung Galaxy Watch Series 4, it has also made a shift for the smartwatches too as the new device comes with Google’s Wear OS. It is likely that all future Galaxy watches will do the same.
The major issue Android users had with previous Samsung smartwatches is the lack of third-party app support. The issue was addressed with Galaxy Watch 4 that runs on One UI Watch based on Wear OS 3. It gives users access to a wide array of apps through the Play Store.
Recently, the company introduced its much-awaited Galaxy S21 FE smartphone. The handset is equipped with a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display and features a 12MP ultra-wide camera with F2.2 and 123˚ field-of-view. It is paired with 12MP wide camera with F1.8 and an 8MP telephoto camera with 30x space zoom and F2.4 aperture. For selfies, the phone has a 32MP camera at the front with F2.2 aperture. The smartphone runs on One UI 4 based on Android 12 operating system and houses a 4,500mAh battery with 25watt wired charging support.
