When it comes to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the magnum opus that he brings to life on screen, it is always about being larger than life. The ace filmmaker who is currently basking in the glory of the stupendous success of Gangubai Kathiawadi is already making headlines for his upcoming OTT project – Heeramandi.As per reports, an OTT giant has been in talks and supposedly locked in a humongous amount of Rs 200 crores already for the production of the project. This also includes a handsome fee for the director himself. While the budget is being touted to be something extraordinary, the director himself is most probably to bring about Rs 60-65 crores back home.
The cast of Heeramandi has been long under process with several names being churned out by the rumour mills, namely Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Huma Qureshi, and Richa Chadda – are a few of the top contenders to play the key roles.
The storyline of Heeramandi is based on the life of courtesans in the pre-independent era. It is going to address key emotions such as love, betrayal, and politics and the alleged OTT giant is all set to mount its money on this period production.
As quoted in Times Of India, acting legend Mumtaz was also offered a role to perform a mujra in the said web series. However, she declined the offer stating how dancing at this age might not be a feasible option for her.
