Sir Sean Connery, who died at the age of 90 in September 2020, has been the latest feature of his granddaughter’s Instagram account. Saskia Connery, who works on the Special Projects team at the Sean Connery Foundation, posted an anniversary message to the late James Bond legend. 

Addressing her 22,000 followers, she spoke about how much she missed her grandfather. 

Saskia said: “It’s been two years since you left us, and not a day goes by where I don’t miss you.”

In her original heartfelt post to the actor in 2020, she wrote about the effect he had on her life. 

Saskia said: “It is impossible to put into words the love, bond and friendship we had as well as the loss I feel.

“My life will never be the same but I know you will always watch over me. Thank you for 25 years of love and laughter. You will always be the most incredible man to me, and to the world. 

“You will live on through your films and philanthropic work, through your love for your family and friends, you were so dedicated to us all. 

“Nobody will ever be able to replace you. Your legend will live on forever as well as my love for you. 

“I know you are in a better place, making everyone laugh with you over a good scotch while you play golf on the clouds of the sky. 

His family said he had been “ill for some time” and for the last two years of his life was in “very large discomfort”. 

Close friend of the star and former F1 driver Sir Jackie Stewart, lamented that it was a “sad sight” to see his friend struggling with “terrible illness” dementia. 

More recently, Sean’s widow Lady Micheline Roquebrune-Connery, who is 93 years of age, and witnessed first hand the “dreadful” impact the disease had on her husband, pledged $1million to help find a cure for dementia.

“Having seen the dreadful impact dementia had on Sean, particularly towards the end of his life, our family feels privileged to support the vital research being undertaken,” Lady Roquebrune shared as she donated the large sum to charity Race Against Dementia in February 2022.
