With temperatures dropping and household bills rising, many are looking for ways to stay warm and minimise their use of central heating.

With Cyber Monday bringing deals from hundreds of retailers to a close, there are still some products continuing to be reduced.

One of the top selling products this year, electric blankets are a smart investment to make while discounted, as they are cheap to run and help to stay warm without having to heat the whole house.

MoneySavingExpert said: ‘it costs roughly 4p an hour to run an electric blanket’ and with the energy price cap raising by 80 percent, electric blankets are an effective way for people to warm themselves, without having to warm their entire homes.”

Amazon has slashed the price of the Silentnight Comfort Control Electric Blanket by 42 percent, saving shoppers £25.

Silentnight Comfort Control Electric Blanket (£35)

Silentnight is a well-known brand, specialising in bedding, mattresses and other accessories to aid sleep.

The blanket is made from a cosy fleece material and has straps to help fit to the bed and stay in place during the night.

There are three heat settings for adjustable warmth that can be adapted using the controller, which can be detached to machine wash the blanket.

The handy overheat function ensures safety when in use, and the ultra-fast heat up time is handy for warming up the bed before sleeping.

Shoppers on Amazon are loving the blanket, with some calling it ”excellent”.

Maria said: ”Excellent value and quality, using in my queen size bed and love it so much, you do not need long time for the bed to get toasty and comfy. Temperature settings works well. Satisfied with this purchase.”

Sean O’Donoghue commented ”Never thought about buying an Electric Blanket before the energy crisis… And I go and buy 5 in one go whilst the price offer was on. Honestly, as a person who hates too much central heating this is perfect because it heats up my children’s beds without me having to sit in a stuffy room.”

Ian also added: ”Bought to try and save money on energy bills. So much cheaper than putting on the heating and perfect for taking the chill off the cold nights. Very comfy and works well with the adjustable thermostat. And the cord is long enough that it will plug in on either side of the bed.”
