Some Google Pixel users are receiving Android 12 update instead of Android 13

Google is now rolling out the stable build of Android 13 to eligible Pixel smartphones. So, if you own a Pixel 4 or newer, you can head to the settings and check for the latest update. However, do not be amused if you get an option to upgrade to Android 12 instead of Android 13. Several Pixel users across the internet have reported that instead of Android 13, they are receiving an Android 12 update.
A number of Pixel users across Twitter and Reddit are complaining about receiving the Android 12 update when they tried upgrading to Android 13. Some users reported that they first received the Android 13 update, but when they went to download it after a few hours, they were getting the Android 12 update instead.
As per multiple tweets and threads on Reddit, users are receiving an Android 12 update weighing 2.03 GB which keeps the same build and does not change a single thing.
A few users facing this bug went ahead with the update, and as per them, the update reinstalled the same version of Android 12 again. However, some note that the Android 13 update appeared once the Android 12 installation was complete, but that is not the case with everyone facing this issue.
The issue seems to mainly affect Pixel 6 series users, including the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6a. However, some Pixel 4a and 5a users are also affected by this bug. The bug does not seem to be widespread, but a considerable number of users are facing trouble upgrading to Android 13.
There is no word on why users are receiving the Android 12 update instead of Android 13. But if something like this happens with you, then you can try rebooting your phone and try checking for the update once.
