Sony Brings in Ex-Apple Exec, Ben King to Take Over Gaming Divisions of PlayStation Store and More

Sony seems to be making some big move, as a recent report by Variety points towards a new hiring by the gaming giant. Sony has caught hold of Ben King, who previously was employed as a services executive at Apple. At Sony, King will be taking on the role of Senior VP, responsible for PlayStation Store and PlayStation’s DTC Businesses.

Before joining Sony, King was employed at DAZn, where he was responsible for market, distribution, and growth. Even before that, he was employed at the tech giant, Apple. Here he was influential in building up iTunes, the App Store and Apple Music during his 12-year tenure at the company.

King has stated that PlayStation Store has managed to become “one of the most visited digital media stores on the planet”. As a result, they are in a unique position to be creative about their relationship with the customers. He wants to provide the users with maximum fun and joy, but at the same time wishes to create a financial opportunity for the games and studio partners.

He added that they have the chance and the provision to serve the community in a better manner. This can be done by delivering “more personalised experiences”. This will help each user to determine what type of entertainment is perfect for them, and what is the right channel for it.

PlayStation to Introduce 3rd Party Content Very Soon

In other news, a report by InsiderGaming, points towards PlayStation introducing 3rd party content very soon. Apparently, renowned leaker, Snitch, has surfaced again on Discord. They have learned about the information through a reliable source of theirs, but not too many details have surfaced. Many feel that this information could be hinting towards a Metal Gear Solid remake announcement. However, this is just speculation, we will just have to wait and see what PlayStation has in store for us.
