Sony is said to be working on a Smartphone with Six Rear Camera

While we have seen a single camera, Dual cameras, Triple cameras and also Penta camera set up on the back on Nokia 9 PureView from HMD. Now, smartphone manufacturer, Sony is said to be working on a smartphone with Six rear camera sensors. Currently, HMD Global has achieved the highest number of sensors on a smartphone. However, if this news turns out to be real then Sony will be at the top of the list to embed the maximum number of sensors on a smartphone.

According to Max J., a tipster on Twitter, Sony is now working on an Xperia smartphone that will have as many as six primary cameras at the back. The report also has a render of the back camera sensor but it’s simply a mock-up. It’s not clear at this moment how these sensors will be arranged. At the front, the smartphone is said to come with a dual front camera for selfies and video calling.

One of the six cameras on the rear is believed to have a telephoto camera along with a super-wide-angle lens. There could also be one ToF (Time-of-Flight) sensor while the other two should be monochrome sensors.

No more details have been made available regarding the upcoming phone by Sony. Still, if we look up to the company’s latest smartphone, Sony Xperia 1, we may expect some of the specifications of this phone. This smartphone might be delivered with a 4K CinemaWide OLED display.

The Sony Xperia 1 features a triple camera setup on the back with 5-axis OIS Dual Pixel PDAF enabled 12MP primary sensor and a 12MP telephoto lens with 5-axis OIS and a dual Pixel PDAF and 2x optical zoom. There is also a 12MP super wide lens and an 8MP selfie sensor. It was powered by Snapdragon 855 SoC and runs on the latest Android 9.0 out of the box.
