Sony on Friday has launched two new Xperia R series smartphones, the Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus in India. The new mid-range smartphones comes with the price tag or Rs. 12,990 and Rs. 14,990 respectively, and will be available in Black and Silver colour options.
Both the smartphones will be available to purchase across all Sony Center and major mobile stores along with Amazon and Flipkart across the country starting from November 10. Company has also announced that the interested customers can pre-book the phones starting from Friday on Amazon. Sony promises, “Pre-registered customers will be entitled for a special offer.” Sony also confirm that both the smartphone will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo in the near future.
Both Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus come with the similar design and specifications with just RAM and storage difference. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat operating system and sport a 5.2 HD (1280×720 pixels) TFT display with a 2.5D curved glass on the top. The smartphone are powered by a 1.5GHz 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 430 SoC coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. The Xperia R1 offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, while the Xperia R1 Plus packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.
For photography, the the Xperia R1 and R1 Plus comes with a 13MP rear camera with autofocus and Exmor Sony sensor along with LED flash support. On the front, there is an 8MP wide-angle camera for taking selfies and making video calls.
The devices are fueled by a 2620mAh non-removeable battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, FM Radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. The devices measure 146 × 73.2 × 8.89 mm and weighs 154 grams.
