Spotify has finally returned to Roku devices with a promising optimized feature. The Spotify app will be available on most Roku players and TVs with a Roku OS 8.2 or higher running on it. The service just started today, and according to Roku, it will roll out to all supported devices by the end of the year.
Spotify used to be available in Roku before, but it was removed last December due to the lack of satisfaction and some technical issues with that version of the software before. The company said that it will come back with something better, “we expect the service to return as a much better overall experience in the future”, they said.
The long wait is over, as it is now officially back again. You can now search albums and playlists and browse music recommendations directly from your Roku device just by using Spotify on Roku. One of the optimized features that the company has talked before is the two-way navigation. The application can be remotely controlled using the Roku remote or via Spotify Connect. It only means that you can now navigate the app using a computer or mobile device of your choice.
Spotify’s new app works with devices running Roku OS 9, TVs on OS 8.2, which is rolling out on Roku TVs effective immediately and becoming available to Roku streaming players in the coming weeks. The music service will work with Roku player models 3600 and above, according to Roku’s website.
