Steve Smith has added yet another outrageous catch to his considerable highlights reel, wowing the cricket world with a spectacular snare to remove Hardik Pandya on Sunday.

Australian quick Sean Abbott caught the edge of the Indian danger man’s bat, with Smith then diving at full stretch to his right while standing at a wide first slip.

The ball stuck in Smith’s right mitt, leaving India in tatters at 5-49 in Visakhapatnam and the commentary team in awe.

“Catch of the century?” Indian great Sanjay Manjrekar inquired.

Starc removes danger man for golden duck

Australia is trying to level the three match ODI series at 1-1 after India won the series opener – the first ODI in Mumbai – by five wickets.

Mitchell Starc removed danger man Suryakumar Yadav for a golden duck and had figures of 4-31 from his opening six overs.

Starc strikes in first over against India

Nathan Ellis – who replaced Glenn Maxwell in the Australian lineup – trapped Virat Kohli lbw for 31 in his first over to leave India reeling at 6-73 after 16 overs.

Australia won the toss and elected to bowl, with Alex Carey replacing Josh Inglis as wicketkeeper.

The pitch had been under covers owing to rain and was helpful to the bowlers.
