Survivor Will Have Five ‘Fully Realised’ Fighting Stances, Cross Lightsaber and More

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s director Stig Asmussen has talked about the new features players can expect to see in the upcoming game.

Speaking to Game Informer, Asmussen revealed that protagonist Cal Kestis will have new combat abilities. These abilities include “five fully realised” fighting stances.

“A lot of it depends on the enemy that you’re coming across,” Asmussen said. “It’s advantageous to use certain types of stances against certain types of enemies, and it’s up to the player to figure that out. It requires the player to break down the enemies and figure out what the best weapon of choice is.”

The new stances also have a dual blade option, which will allow Kestis to wield two different lightsabers. Another stance will allow the character to use both a blaster and lightsaber at the same time.

“It really speaks to where we find Cal in this part of the story,” Asmussen said. “It’s five years since the first game, and the dark times are still in full swing. He’s an unconventional Jedi, and he has to do unconventional things. So, something that would be frowned upon during the height of the Jedi Order? Cal’s finding he’s going to do whatever it takes.”

There will also be a new stance that will let the character use a crossguard-style lightsaber, much like Kylo Ren. Asmussen said it’s a more confident approach and is “weighty” and “beefy.” However, the window timings are longer with the blade, so Asmussen said players have to be very measured when it comes to using this stance.

Ubisoft is looking for playtesters for its Star Wars title

In other news, Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment is looking for playtesters for its Star Wars game. So far, we only know that Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games are collaborating on an open-world Star Wars game. The project was announced in early 2021, with The Division 2 lead Julian Gerighty also leading this project.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has said it will be “an original Star Wars adventure that is different from anything that has been done before.”

However, to be a playtester for the game, you need to be living close to Malmö, Sweden, where Massive Entertainment is based.
