The Last of Us TV series by HBO is set to introduce some changes to a character from the original video game.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the changes will be made to the story involving a much beloved character by fans of the PlayStation 3 game. New details have emerged that reveal Bill to be the focus of episode three of the show. Bill is a survivalist from the game who takes sanctuary in a vacated town. Creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have repeatedly said that the adaptation will be faithful in nature; however, this change will apparently shock fans.

There aren’t any details about what the change will be to Bill’s character. The show has cast Murray Bartlett as Frank, who is Bill’s former partner and romantic interest. This indicates that the story will consist of changes regarding the relationship between the two characters.

In the video game, Joel and Ellie come across Bill living in the town, which he has rigged with traps. When the two ask Bill to repay an old favour by providing them with a working truck, they discover the dead body of Frank.

While Frank was already shown to be dead in the game, it appears that the TV series could actually shed more light on the relationship between him and Bill.

Details on Bella Ramsey’s audition

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, co-showrunner Druckmann discussed the casting process for Ellie and how Bella Ramsey stood out in her audition. According to Druckmann, Ramsey “felt so real” and was highly recommended by her former bosses on Game of Thrones. “It was like Ellie realized in live action. It didn’t feel like watching an actor,” Druckmann said about Ramsey.
