Smartphones from the likes of Samsung, Huawei, and Oppo have offered the ability to adjust the display resolution for years now. Google finally caught up with the Pixel 7 Pro back in October, and now the company is bringing this feature to last year’s Pro model.
Esper senior technical editor Mishaal Rahman confirmed on Twitter that the Pixel 6 Pro now has a display resolution toggle thanks to the Android 13 QPR2 beta update. Much like the Pixel 7 Pro, this toggle lets you switch between FHD+ and QHD+ screen resolutions.
The news comes several months after a developer unofficially brought a display resolution toggle to the Pixel 6 Pro via a mod. So we’re glad to see Google stepping in with an official solution, even if it’s only via beta software right now.
Switching to a lower display resolution can yield battery life improvements and can also result in a performance boost in some games. So Pixel 6 Pro users struggling with battery life or wanting a smoother experience in games can try this option.
