New cosy The Lord Of The Rings game Tales Of The Shire has been delayed to 2025.

Tales Of The Shire: A Lord Of The Rings game allows players to live out their Hobbit fantasy “in the wonderfully serene landscape of the Shire. Discover, decorate, and share in this idyllic corner of Middle-earth,” reads the game’s description.

Tales Of The Shire had been due to launch this autumn for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam but developers Weta Workshops have now confirmed the game will be delayed.

“All of us here at Weta Workshop are excited to have you join us in the Shire, a peaceful corner of J.R.R. Tolkien’s world. When a new Hobbit steps into Bywater for the very first time, we want that moment to be everything you’re hoping for,” they said in a statement.

“To ensure we deliver that vision, Tales of the Shire will now be launching early 2025. Thank you for your patience and continued support.”

In Tales Of The Shire, players are able to create their own Hobbit, but the game also promises familiar faces from the world of Lord Of The Rings as well.

“Greet comfort at the door as you decorate your own Hobbit hole, tend to your garden, fish at the clear ponds, forage wild fruits and herbs, or trade with townsfolks. Prepare homemade meals to share with fellow Hobbits and foster relationships,” reads the description while the launch trailer explained: “There are many tales of Middle-earth. Tales of courage and brave deeds in dark times. But that is not our story. For this is one of new beginnings.”

Despite the delay, a deep-dive exploration of Tales Of The Shire is still going ahead on September 22, AKA Hobbit Day.

Tales Of The Shire has been created by Take-Two Interactive’s Private Division and design agency Wētā Workshop, who also worked on the big screen adaptations of The Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

In other news, the first beta for Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 wrapped up earlier this week, and fans are split about new improvements to the long-running franchise.
