Twitter Is Testing a New Filter for Offensive Messages

Twitter is undoubtedly the best microblogging platform on the web with millions of its regular users from across the world. Twitter has been updating the platform with new protection and privacy features to keep the abusers away. And now, Twitter is testing yet another feature that will put a cap on the abusive messages.

Twitter has a separate Messages section where you and your follower can communicate with each other privately. If you set to receive messages from anyone, then you can expect some abusive messages in your inbox out of nowhere.

To keep things sorted out, Twitter’s Messages section has a special Quality Filger toggle button. You can make use of this toggle button to keep the Direct Messages private and sorted. This toggle button hides abusive messages received from the users whom you don’t follow. However, the new testing is more unique and will keep such messages completely away from your profile.

There will be a new Messages Requests tab within the Messages’ settings option. Messages sent by the people you don’t follow will be filtered here. There will be a new Additional Messages option available within the section. Suspected spam received from the non-followers will be dumped here automatically.

Twitter has also shared a short video in GIF format, you can see how this feature will work in real life for you. Do check it out the short video shared by Twitter from here.

The messages that contain offensive words will be recognized by the latest algorithm. And that’s how the new Spam filter feature will work within the Messages section. Once available, instead of seeing a preview of the message, you will be sent a warning message.

If you want to see the message even if you see the warning message, then you can manually open the offensive message. You can delete those messages by selecting them from the messages section.

Twitter has been testing out a bunch of new features recently and we can expect all of these features together with the new major update of the app. We hope to receive a new update very soon. Stay tuned with us for more information.
