Ubisoft Is Reportedly Working on a Battle Arena Similar to Bleeding Edge

A recent leak from Tom Henderson claims that Ubisoft is working on a hero-based Battle Arena game with Battle Royale elements.

The projects that Ubisoft has announced during the last few years, especially the multiplayer ones, have not been interesting enough for the gamers overall. First, they announced a free-to-play project set in the world of The Division, and then they do the same thing with the Ghost Recon series. In between, they also announced XDefiant as a new COD-like first-person shooter.

Now, while all the three projects above are in development and there is no official info on when they would be ready to launch, it’s being reported that the company is also working on another PvP multiplayer game with Battle Royale elements.

Ubisoft Seems to Be So Desperate for Having a Share of Battle Royale Market

According to Tom Henderson, he has received information from different sources that Ubisoft is working on a hero-based Battle Arena game, which is set to feature two major modes. One is a Battle Royale mode where only four teams of two players participate in each match, and the other is a battle arena with two teams of four players.

Based on the leaked information, the game is supposed to have fantasy heroes, who will be using extraordinary weapons like cards, hammers, fireworks, and paint guns to damage their enemies.

The descriptions of the game from Tom Henderson, especially the heroes and the Battle Arena map, sound very similar to Ninja Theory’s Bleeding Edge, a game that the studio stopped supporting only a year after launch due to a lack of a strong player base.

With the success of Fortnite, Warzone, Apex Legends, and PUBG in the Battle Royale market, Ubisoft seems to be too interested in having a significant share of this market. The team was so desperate for this relatively new category that their first shot was clearly a miss. Hyper Scape was Ubisoft’s first attempt in Battle Royale, but the company revealed that it would shut down the servers of the game later in April 2022.

Now, it remains unknown how the new project from Ubisoft could perform in the saturated market of Battle Royale games, but the publisher really needs to stop rushing things to launch.
